ACT-R Model of EEG Latency Data
نویسنده
چکیده
Anderson and Lebieres (1998) modeling system ACT-R (Adaptive Control of Thought Rational) has been a leading contributor to advances in cognitive science. Despite the modeling systems success there are areas in which it may be improved. The present research advocates a suggested approach to improving ACT-Rs predictive capacity by using EEG (electroencephalography) latency data to predict the time it takes to achieve certain mental steps. A model is presented which successfully represents EEG data from a simple auditory experiment. Implications of this modeling approach to ACT-R and to the field of cognitive science are discussed.

Relating ACT-R buffer activation to EEG activity during an attentional blink task
While a clear relation has been established between ACT-R and activity in fMRI, little is known about whether ACT-R has also correlates in EEG activity. Because of its superior temporal resolution compared to fMRI, EEG could potentially be used to adjudicate between model versions that differ in time courses of module activation, even while generating qualitatively similar patterns of behaviour...
متن کاملEvaluation of Electro Physiological Changes of Sleep among Patients with Supratentorial Ischemic Stroke and Comparison with Control group
Background & Aims: Sleep disorders are common complains in patients with cerebral stroke; studies on these issues are limited. We aimed to evaluate the sleep changes in patients with supratentorial ischemic stroke. Methods: In this cross sectional study, 38 patients (19 patients in supratentorial ischemic stroke group and 19 people in control group) were evaluated. Total sleep time, sleep effic...
متن کاملA Proposed Method of Matching ACT-R and EEG-Data
Most model-based research in neuroscience is limited to fine grained analysis of single cognitive process. The question how different brain regions interact with each other is a matter of ongoing research and far from being answered. Methods, which unite findings and methods of cognitive modeling and neuroscience are required, in order to obtain greater understanding of cognitive processes of t...
متن کاملPrediction of Epileptic Seizures in Patients with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) based on Cepstrum analysis and AR model of EEG signal
Epilepsy is a chronic disorder of brain function caused by abnormal and excessive electrical neurons discharge in the brain. Seizures cause disturbances in consciousness that occur without prior notice, so their prediction ability, based on EEG data, can reduce stress and improve quality of life. An epileptic patient EEG data consists of five parts: Ictal, Inter-Ictal, pre-Ictal, Post-Ictal, an...
متن کاملModeling Lexical Decision as Ordinary Retrieval
We present an ACT-R model of signal-to-respond lexical decision. This model is based on a mental lexicon constructed from a complete list of English four-letter words with associated word frequencies. A number of (signal-to-respond) lexical decision phenomena are explained by the model, without having to rely on mechanisms specific to lexical decision. Besides explaining these phenomena, the mo...
